Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, individuals must be a permanent resident and volunteer at a not-for-profit organisation with a current not-for-profit registered number(if you are unsure about this number, please contact your not-for-profit organisation representative).

The following list is not exhaustive, but provides examples of eligible and ineligible organisations:

  • Educational Institutions – Schools, universities, pre-schools and other educational establishments that are properly accredited according to Australian law and registered as not-for-profit.
  • Health & Human Service Organisations -- Social welfare and other organisations dealing with health and medical issues, eradication of disease, drug rehabilitation, hunger, HIV/AIDS, as well as adult and youth programmes dealing with unemployment, homelessness and social welfare registered as not-for-profit.
  • Organisations Involved In Arts & Culture -- Museums, theatres, orchestras, historical societies, performing arts companies, libraries, public television and public radio stations registered as not-for-profit.
  • Development and Community Organisations -- Community improvement or service organisations such as housing, job training, urban redevelopment, sporting, youth and community organisationsregistered as not-for-profit.
  • Environmental & Conservation Organisations -- Local, regional or national organisations concerned with environment, nature and wildlife preservation including animal welfare, water usage programmes, pollution prevention, recycling and energy conservation registered as not-for-profit.
Ineligible Organisations
  • Political or fraternal organisations
  • Religious groups - however individuals from these organisations are eligible if the activities undertaken by these organisations benefit the general public and are non-denominational and non-sectarian in nature.
  • Programmes including building and maintenance of places of worship.
  • Groups that discriminate or limit membership based on race, gender, beliefs, class or cultural considerations.
  • BP employees, officers, contractors and their immediate families are ineligible to apply for this programme.
Administrative Conditions

All decisions on the eligibility volunteers and the final application decisions will be made at the discretion of BP Australia. BP Australia reserves the right to suspend, change or terminate this programme at any time.

How to Apply:

  1. This programme is open to individuals who volunteer at an Australian not-for-profit organisation.
  2. The individual and the not-for-profit organisation they work for must comply with the Vouchers for Volunteers programme eligibility criteria.
  3. The individual applicant must use a vehicle in the process of volunteering and perform
    an educational, social or environmental function.
  4. Applications can be made via the website www.talkstoppedlongago.com.au
  5. Applications will be open for a period of two (2) weeks from 9:00am Monday 27/04/2009 to 5:00pm 11/05/2009.
  6. Successful applicants will be notified and listed on talkstoppedlongago.com.au by 1/06/2009.
  7. Successful applicants will receive their BP Pre Pay fuel cards by 30/06/2009.
  8. Successful applicants must use the BP Pre Pay fuel cards they receive to pay for the fuel associated with their volunteering.
  9. A single volunteer cannot receive more than one BP Pre Pay fuel card. BP’s intent is to
    spread the benefits across the Australian community to many different community groups.
  10. Successful applicants can redeem their BP Pre Pay fuel card at any BP service station Australia-wide.
  11. The final decision is solely made at the discretion of the Vouchers for Volunteers selection panel and BP Australia Pty Ltd.
